This section of the science review considers future developments
in the science of genetic modification - the traits that might be
introduced, the organisms that might be modified and the methodological
advances that could simplify risk assessment or the regulation of
this technology. What are the opportunities and challenges that
lie ahead and what are the time scales? Can GM crops be developed
which have significant health advantages for our human populations,
whether in the UK or overseas?
