I attach a paper published on AgBiotechNet
at the end of 2002, which deals with biosafety issues
in Africa
(120kb).
The point I wish to make, which is referred to in the paper,
is that the UK (and the rest of Europe) is not isolated, and
must consider the wider implications of decisions made. The
current situation in the UK and Europe is causing serious
repercussions with regard to the adoption of GMOs in Africa.
Unlike in Europe, where there is enough food without GM, any
technology that can increase food production in Africa should
be welcomed.
