One of the areas needs study is the interaction of alien gene with other native genes in a genome( non- allelic gene interactins or epistasis). And at the same time how the genes( local and exotic genes) work in consert (interact) with the environment.Many economic traits are under the control of many genes and they also interact with the environment. Hence gm trials must be conducted in a number of extreme environments to study the behaviour of the alien gene.
